1432 samples were tested at 9 pm on May 19. The total number of tests so far is 68,243 or 9,749, referring to 1 million of the population. The newly established laboratory cases of COVID-19 are 33, with 21 of them being in hospital. This was reported by the Secretary of the National Operational Headquarters Dimo Dimov.
The total number of laboratory cases reached 2292 in Bulgaria. Activity was noted in 8 areas. The distribution of the new cases is as follows – 12 in Sofia, 4 in Pleven, 3 each in Blagoevgrad, Vidin, Pazardzhik, Sliven and Yambol, and two new cases in Vratsa.
There is a new case of a sick child – 13 years old from Sofia. Two more medical professionals are infected – in Vratsa, and in Pleven.
More 38 new people were cured – Sofia, Burgas, Yambol, Plovdiv, Sliven, Smolyan and Haskovo.
There are four people who died with COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The first one was a 71-year-old man hospitalized in Pirogov Emergency Hospital, suffering from concomitant diseases – chronic heart failure and chronic kidney failure. He was from the nursing home based in Oreshets Station. The second one was of a 92-year-old woman hospitalized in the capital’s “St. Anna” Hospital, suffering from concomitant diseases – arterial hypertension and steatosis of the liver. She was a patient from the nursing home based in the town of Kula. The third case is of a 53-year-old man who died at the Targovishte Hospital. There are currently no data on concomitant diseases. The fourth case is of a 36-year-old man treated in MHAT-Yambol, suffering from decompensated diabetes.
The total number of deaths with confirmed positive test for COVID-19 was 116.
At present, 285 people are hospitalized, with 33 of them being treated in intensive care units.
