The COVID-19 outbreak in Bulgaria can be monitored online through an interactive map published by “ESRI Bulgaria”. The monitoring tool is available for desktop and mobile users.
The platform collects data published by the Bulgarian Operational Headquarters and visualises it in the form of interactive graphs. It allows users to get latest details on the outbreak development without having to research multiple sources.
Katerina Kuzmanova from “ESRI Bulgaria” explained that the interactive map accumulates geographical data of the registered COVID-19 cases, incl. of people who recovered and death cases as well.
An algorithm shows how the epidemic developed in the country on a day-to-day basis. The platform is similar to the one developed by the university of John Hopkins in the USA that is monitoring the coronavirus spreading across the world.
The 17-year-old Avi Shiffman from Seattle was first to develop a similar visual database of the outbreak. His online map was the online available real-time monitoring tool in December and January before the outbreak reached global scale.
