“A number of European countries are under the same threats and are walking this line. Emails with bomb threats to schools in our country are hybrid attacks linked to Russia. This is the leading version of the investigators. A number of European countries are under the same threats and are following this line,” said Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev. He pointed out:
“The sources of the attacks and the approaches are the same. We have alerted partner services in the US and UK. There, it is established whether an email address is registered, or whether phones are used from which these threats come.”
Demerdzhiev explained that in our country there is a prepared protocol for action in the event of a bomb alert, which is followed.
“That’s exactly what causes problems. The protocol is from the year 2000. Today, I am convening a working group to review it in order to establish the real dangers before proceeding with the evacuation of schools, airports, etc.,” explained Demerdzhiev. According to him, these threats will not affect the election process. He is categorical:
“So far the threats are not real. They aim for attention.”
