Measures for deputinization of Bulgaria were requested by the parliamentary group of „Democratic Bulgaria“ (DB) through a declaration read from the rostrum of the National Assembly by Chairman of the group Hristo Ivanov. The declaration proposes priorities and measures to be included in the government’s governing program and in the legislative program of the ruling majority, the party’s press office stated.
„The systematic elimination of all forms of vulnerability, infiltration and influence by the Kremlin regime must be made a key national task within a systematic policy of deputinization.„, the statement said. He added that the government was making significant efforts in this direction, but lacked a comprehensive and consistent policy of the ruling majority. The party said that removing Russian influence in the country should become in the sense of the existence of the ruling majority.
Among the measures to counter Russia and hybrid impact against Bulgaria are checking the loyalty of intelligence officers and increasing their capacity for counterintelligence and combating such attacks, propaganda and disinformation. It calls for a program to accelerate the acquisition of new weapons and equipment for the army and to reach and, if possible, exceed 2% of GDP for defense in 2023 at the latest. By the end of 2022, the number of Russian diplomats in Sofia should be equal to that of Bulgarians in Moscow.
DB insists that a new state representative be elected to “Lukoil Neftochim Burgas”, with the option of acquiring control of the refinery, as well as providing alternative supplies of nuclear fuel for “Kozloduy” NPP. It is envisaged to prepare tools for freezing and taking control of assets of the Russian Federation or other sanctioned persons.
„Democratic Bulgaria“ also insists on a ban on the use of symbols of the Putin regime and Russian aggression in Ukraine.
The DB will seek a broad political consensus on the implementation of these priorities and will begin consultations in the National Assembly (NA) on the adoption of a declaration of national unification around them. However, the coalition states that it will not speculate with ultimatums and threats that it will leave the government, but clearly states in the name of what they will support it.
