“Russian priests were not expelled, but people who worked against Bulgaria’s national interests.”
This is what Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov said on the occasion of the spy scandal with the Russian Church in Sofia at the end of last week.
He specified that the temple will be open to the laity in our homeland, but the organization of its activities will be made by the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. Already chaplains have been provided to ensure its activity in the future.
“Where the key is and why it is there is not a question for me.”
According to the Prime Minister, the report of the State Agency for National Security has enough clear data to justify not allowing Russian Church officials to enter Bulgaria for the next five years. The document is due to be presented to MPs in the National Assembly.
