“Today, the residents of the village of Gornoslav need support, where after a powerful protest against a marble quarry, probably with the aim of intimidating the initiators, two of Stefan Dokuzov’s dogs /leader of the protest/ were shot, another of his dogs barely survived, and after days Maya Hristozova’s dog, the chairman of the initiative committee, was also found with its tail cut off.”
Alexander Dunchev announced this on his profile on the social network Facebook. He emphasized that the National Assembly sent a second request to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivan Demerdzhiev, in order to protect the rights of the people in the village “before their resistance is drowned in more blood”.
“Unfortunately, all this is the result of the lack of justice and incorruptible state authorities, which apparently will not change soon due to the lack of political will. And for that, the only protection of nature and the rights of citizens remain the citizens themselves, i.e. we all.”
“What else did we learn about the scandalous suicide: There was a company called Zapryanovi-03 OOD, which intended to develop a quarry for marbles in state-owned land 16955.28.132 in Asenovgrad municipality, Plovdiv region. Residents of the adjacent villages of Gornoslav, Cherven and Dolnoslav do not agree with this, because they believe that the quarry will have a negative impact on the environment, health and their livelihood – poultry and beekeeping. For this, they organized themselves in an initiative committee against the quarry and held several protests in the last month. On 18.12.2022, according to residents, the company organized a hunt in the area of the village of Gornoslav. During it, two dogs owned by beekeeper Stefan Dokuzov were shot, and his third dog was seriously injured”,Dunchev explains.
According to him, the beekeeper is a member of the initiative committee, which peacefully opposes the quarry. Dunchev pointed out that, in response to their parliamentary question, the Ministry of Internal Affairs ordered stricter protection of public order in the area.
“But despite the actions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on 08.01.2023, the chairwoman of the initiative committee, Maya Hristozova, living in the village of Gornoslav, found her dog with its tail cut off – a new sign of intimidation against the protesting residents. This is probably a sign to the Ministry of Interior that there are forces stronger than the state and the people. How long?” Dunchev asked.
