On June 16 of this year, public figure Emil Peychev sent a question to the then Minister of Interior, Boyko Rashkov. In it, he describes allegations of crimes committed by the then head of the Sozopol Regional Police Department, Krasimir Kirov. According to one of them, as close to GERB, he is behind the leak of secret information from the Ministry of Interior, which discredited Peichev in November, when he was a candidate for deputy, as well as the party he represents.
The member of the public wanted to check whether the signals in question were true by contacting the Directorate of „Internal Security“ in Burgas and in particular the head of the unit, Chief Inspector Miroslav Ivanov, but there was no response. As a result, he has taken the case directly to the Home Secretary with a call for action to be taken. There was no reaction again.
On August 25, the editorial office of Iskra.bg received an email with two video files attached. They showed employees of the Internal Security Directorate in Burgas sleeping at their workplaces while on duty. According to the information in the email, the footage was taken in February, and the sender notes:
“It is interesting that the nap takes place every day between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the building of the Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior in Burgas. What is even more interesting is what their chief, Miroslav Ivanov, who is the head of „Internal Security“ in the regional city, is doing about it. Ivanov is either turning a blind eye to the actions of the two policemen, or he does not know what they are doing, but in both cases he is responsible and should be held accountable. It is possible that Ivanov does not know what his colleagues do in the afternoon, because at the same time he is condensing his afternoon hours in the company of a colleague, also from the Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Burgas. Both are sleeping, and the others are sleeping.”
After the publication of the clips in the media space, Miroslav Ivanov was removed from his position. The information available to Iskra.bg is that the sleeping policemen are still at work and it is not known whether they will be held accountable.

Irregularities should be reported and institutions should work to resolve them. Over the past 15 years, however, GERB and DPS have built a model that crushes institutions and control bodies.
