The economist Evgeny Kanev believes that the result of the local elections is within expectations. He shared the following analysis on Facebook:
“The election results are within expectations. I was hoping for a bigger lead in Sofia and a smaller margin in Plovdiv, Varna is a pleasant surprise. Chances in Blagoevgrad, Razgrad and Veliko Tarnovo.
Congratulations for the strong performance of Vanya Grigorova, with whom we know each other. And Hekimian’s result was clear after his election by the technology of Tsetska Tsacheva at the last moment.
However, the battle for Sofia is far from over – especially if the SAC justifies the CEC’s folly. And given its activism (then with a decision urgently on Sunday, not as now three days due to lack of „technical time“) for the return of the mafia to Captain Andreyevo – I am quite skeptical.
I expect a powerful drive on the outlying districts as happened in 2019 that decided the vote. GERB may have dropped out, but its appetites for Sofia municipality hardly have. Moreover, after the first two, everyone is circling around GERB and there is no telling whose majority BSP would prefer in the Sofia Municipal Council.
By the elementary logic of the corruption mentality – who would I benefit more from as mayor – no wonder, no matter what BB says, all efforts would be harnessed in favour of the left candidate. Moreover, in her candidacy the lobbies around the two red presidents – orthodox of BB and Peevski – have much more weight than Ninova.
I can already hear the foolish talk of people who consider themselves democrats that the BSP is preferable to the State Security. Something like the battle between the blue collar and the silver spoon was. Well, there’s nothing right about that. Not just because of economic ideology, but because of the fundamental difference between communism and freedom.
Whether you vote class-wise for a person as part of a class, a group, a tribe, a clan, or for them specifically as an individual.”
