From June 1st, we will travel to Greece and Serbia without quarantine. This was announced by Prime Minister Boiko Borisov at an extraordinary briefing, which took place after the quadripartite meeting with neighbouring countries initiated by him. Romania’s decision on the issue is still pending because it must be taken by parliament.
At the border, travellers will fill out declarations. They will have to enter their personal data, contacts, as well as that they are not quarantined and are not sick with COVID-19.
“The declarations are similar to those of the checkpoints. It is like a means of contact. It is a bit aggravating, but much better than keeping a 14-day quarantine”, Borisov stressed.
For his part, Minister of Transport Rosen Jelyazkov explained that this was a statement by which people indicated that they were aware of the situation surrounding the spread of the coronavirus.
„The declaration is because people know the risk and are willing to bear it. As well as the fact that if they get sick, they agree to all the conditions,” he added.
Jelyazkov also announced that the quarantine for Bulgarian international drivers will fall from Monday. Something they have been insisting on for a long time. The measure was agreed with the industry, it became clear from his words.
The Prime Minister announced that so far the losses for the budget from the crisis due to the coronavirus are estimated at about BGN 3.5 billion. By mid-June, it will be clear whether Bulgaria will be able to handle it on its own or will have to take out an external loan.
Borisov also commented on the statement of Gen. Vencislav Mutafchiiski – “Many Bulgarians will die. They will die. On this occasion”, the Prime Minister said the following:
“There is no unpunished good in Bulgaria. We begin to honor the Bulgarians, when they are hanged, they are killed. Correct me, but I can’t think of a living person we’ve praised. Dr. Mutafchiiski saved a mass of people. The man turned on. Nor have I taken advantage of his success. Unite the staff – both Kunchev and Kantardjiev did a lot of work. All colleagues today congratulated Bulgaria on how well we did. No wonder they condemn us for doing well. I respect him a lot as a doctor, because I, like everyone, when he lay down on the operating room, he did a lot of things. Well, condemn us after all. After such questions I drop out and then I get angry. And that day I forced myself to say that these things are due to me, because I got angry at such questions. There is no colleague in the world who has not said that people will die. Mutafchiiski just does his job and keeps doing it. We did a lot. Now we want to do more. If some think they can do more, do it. This is because we have something to say that we have done well. Here – we open kindergartens, sports, drivers. Every morning at 7 o’clock, every measure is discussed and until we finally say „ok“ we don’t stop. As I read the NATO material, my hair, which is short, stood up.
Borisov also commented on his speech over the weekend, when he spoke about Bojkov TV and later bTV came up with a position on the issue. He said he did not know why they had confessed to his words.
