„In general, the caretaker government does not and cannot have its own income policy, including their increase, but it is obliged to follow the established policy, including the current legislation.“
This was announced by caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev, who took part in the parliamentary control. The caretaker cabinet proposed to the National Assembly to adopt the so-called extension law on the budget, which would be in force until the regular government proposes its own budget.
„What the caretaker government has done in terms of income to help Bulgarian citizens to face the autumn-winter season is to allocate an additional BGN 20 million to individuals and families who are out of reach of the winter heating assistance. An additional 40 000 individuals and families are included.“
Income policy is long-term and therefore it should be developed and implemented by a regular cabinet, Donev added, quoted by „BTA“. In his words, currently the caretaker cabinet has no right to form an income policy and applies the one that was set by the previous regular cabinet with parameters voted by parliament in the state budget law.
Donev also gave an answer to a question of Chairwoman of the BSP group Korneliya Ninova. She asked him to explain what the caretaker government is proposing for income growth at the moment. According to her, with the freezing of the minimum wage at BGN 710 there will be about half a million people in our country who will be working poor.
We recall that during a meeting between „We Continue the Change“ and the BSP, both political forces stood by the thesis that the caretaker government should submit a draft for a new budget for 2023.
