The co-chairman of „Democratic Bulgaria“ gen. Atanas Atanasov stated that GERB-SDS needs six votes for the mandate they will seek over the weekend.
“115 votes have already been secured. We understand that this is being discussed as an option, at a very high level. Namely, the mechanisms by which these 6 votes will be secured – either someone will give them, or someone will be absent, so we will monitor what happens”, he pointed out.
Deputies from „Democratic Bulgaria“ will be present in the plenary hall during the voting, Atanasov revealed. He recalled:
“We created our political association „Democratic Bulgaria“ 5 years ago with the main goal of dismantling the corrupt Boris government, and this goal has not been achieved, we will continue to work for it.”
According to him, there are chances that the first term will pass and he comments on the „courting“ by GERB:
“Borisov needs a laundry, a political laundry, and that’s why he is courting „Democratic Bulgaria“ so much. (…) Figuratively speaking, these washing machines have not been produced at our plant for a long time. We cannot be a fig leaf, a new edition of the restoration forces.”
Voters want a regular government, and that’s why „Democratic Bulgaria“ and „We continue the Change“ had a plan for the second term.
“We stated a long time ago that we are ready together with „Continue the change“ and „Democratic Bulgaria“ to offer an option for governing the country. We are discussing this plan and if the first mandate is not implemented, we will propose it. I don’t want to go into details. We have only held a discussion”, he added.
