It is possible that other MPs from „There is Such a people“ /TISP/ political party will support Asen Vassilev’s government, said independent MP Georgi Georgiev, who left the party. According to him, talks are being held with the people’s representatives from TISP, so that they could decide on their conscience. He commented:
„The six independent MPs will probably support the government proposed by „We Continue the Change“. Yesterday we had the first meeting where we set several specific topics to become part of the program that will be written. Based on the preliminary talks and the agreement we reached on these topics, we will rather support the government.”
Georgiev explained that the first topic was nuclear energy. According to him, they wanted the construction of the 7th and 8th units of the Kozloduy NPP, and Asen Vassilev confirmed that work is being done on this topic. The second topic was the fight against corruption. The independent MP explained:
„We set several topics. The first is the change of the leadership of the Commission for Combating Corruption and for Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property. With a new parliamentary majority, we are definitely going to change the entire leadership of the commission. The other is the creation of the Commission for Combating Corruption and the old Commission for Combating Corruption and for Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property, which will become a Commission for Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property.„
The independent MPs have demanded further acceleration of the reform of the judiciary and the introduction of the mechanism of control of Prosecutor General.
