GERB is withdrawing the candidacy of Krassimir Tsipov as Chairman of the CEC. This was announced by the resigned Prime Minister Boyko Borissov during an extraordinary briefing. The decision came after he saw the views of President Rumen Radev’s consultations yesterday.
„Let Radev appoint a CEC Chairman with the aid of his parties. Decisions in the CEC are taken by a 2/3 majority. That is, these people have no influence with this conspiracy. We are now depositing in the presidency to consult. I think it is wrong when the parliament has left with a complete failure, it is funny, but I love my country, I know how difficult it is.“, said Borissov and noted once again that in his opinion he is the most successful and knowledgeable.
The Prime Minister’s thesis that he loves Bulgaria is repeated once again. So far, however, he has not proved this claim. It is because of him that our society is divided, after nearly a year thousands called for his resignation, but he never submitted it. And with this action and behavior at the moment continues to deepen the crisis and hinder the work of the Head of State. We remind you that over a month after the parliamentary elections, all the mandates given by President Rumen Radev to form a government were returned. The president’s next step is to dissolve the 45th National Assembly, appoint a caretaker government and set a date for early elections. It is assumed that they will be on July 11.
At the same time, Krassimir Tsipov also motivated the decision to withdraw his candidacy:
„After the consultations were over, it became clear that there was only one candidate for chairman of the CEC. After deliberating in the late afternoon of yesterday, I allowed myself to ask the Prime Minister to convene a meeting this morning to analyze the situation. Yesterday we witnessed once again that all other parties decided to escape responsibility. We were the only ones to nominate a candidate for CEC chairman because we have proved that we are extremely responsible. We are going to early parliamentary elections. I thought it necessary to present my position to the party’s governing body. I am not afraid to chair the CEC collective body.“
We also recall the fact that his candidacy was not supported by all parties and coalitions in Parliament. According to “ Stand Up! Mafia Out!” appointing Tsipov as Chairman of the CEC is an insult to Bulgarian voters. In his capacity as Deputy Minister of the Interior and under his leadership, the fairness of the local elections in 2015 and 2019, the parliamentary elections in 2017 and the European elections in 2019 were questioned. There was absolute inaction on the part of the Ministry of Interior on signals for manipulation of the election process and buying votes, added Manolova.
Hristo Ivanov, on the other hand, defined Tsipov as one of GERB’s „ladybugs„.
„Mr. Tsipov has a long history, I’m sorry to say, but this is part of this model, a typical representative of the“ ladybugs „in GERB, a man who served Tsvetanov, Borissov, Fidosova. „A person who has never shown a real character to defend his own opinion in favor of the rule of law, and that is the one who should represent the CEC.„, he added.
According to him, this is a man who will be „directly pressed by the buttons from Bankya and at the same time Borissov can sacrifice him without hesitation at all.“
In response to a journalistic question, the Co-chairman of „Democratic Bulgaria“ said that he had not nominated Tsvetozar Tomov as Chairman of the CEC because he did not meet the legal requirements for legal experience.
