“The prosecutor’s office is launching mass inspections on cases of speculation on the prices of essential commodities – food and medicine”, said the General Prosecutor of Bulgaria Ivan Geshev. At work meeting Geshev, the Secretary General of the Ministry of the Interior Ivaylo Ivanov and the Chairman of the National Operational Headquarters Major-General Prof. Dr. Ventsislav Mutafchiiski discussed the necessary actions to limit the spread of the new COVID-19 coronavirus.
Geshev pointed out that there were two major risks of a state of emergency – persons quarantined to try to escape and new attempts at phone frauds related to the dreaded disease.
Geshev assured that there is already an organization in place to respond to any situation. He called for more stringent measures to be put in place to stop the spread of the infection. He also appeals to community to follow the guidelines of the health authorities.
Geshev stressed that the economy can recover but human life cannot be restored.
The government’s aim is to protect the health of citizens, he said and added that all of us had gone through dozens of trials and he is sure that we would be able to deal with this crisis as well.
He did not fail to thank the doctors and volunteers fighting the infection.
