Democratic Bulgaria asked the Electricity System Operator (ESO) to provide the names of the companies that won the tenders for the provision of capacity reserves. The request was made under the Law on Access to Public Information, after a journalistic investigation showed that the country has again started paying for the so-called „Cold reserve“, and among the winning orders is TPP „Varna“ of the honorary chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Ahmed Dogan.
In a video broadcast live on social networks by TPP Varna, the co-chair of Democratic Bulgaria Hristo Ivanov explained that the latest tenders are shrouded in fog because the ranked companies are not named and can only be assumed that Dogan’s uncle won at least one of the tenders.
“Why, gentlemen from ESO, if everything is fine, the companies are not listed, but only the numbers of their offers”, Ivanov asked and added:
„Again, Dogan has a cold reserve and is kefli. I guess that both Valerka and Krasi are kefli, because their long political career consists mainly in this – their meaning to exist is to serve the Bulgarian mafia, to serve Sarai, to serve the circle around Ahmed Dogan. That’s their patriotism.”
Ivanov reminded that for more than half a year no one wanted to check whether TPP Varna was able to provide a cold reserve at all, for which it received BGN 54 million. There is no response to the signals of Democratic Bulgaria to the prosecutor’s office and the Ministry of energy for the plant. After a request to the Agency for Public Enterprises and Control to provide the annexes to the privatization contract from 2006 between the state and CEZ, the answer is that „the requested information does not exist“.
“Complete silence envelops the energy empire of the philosopher Dr. Dogan”, summed up the co-chair of Democratic Bulgaria. He recalled that the Czech prosecutor’s office had launched an investigation into the sale of Varna TPP and said the union would provide it with the information it had on the matter. „We urge Mr. Geshev to take advantage of the mechanics of legal aid contracts and request the materials collected in the Czech Republic so that an investigation can be conducted here as well,“ Ivanov urged, adding:
“We will not give up and we have proved it. We will continue to attack the Bulgarian backstage with names and specific documents.”
Ivanov pointed out that „Democratic Bulgaria“ is still working on these issues, and the parliament will already have the tools to put more pressure on the institutions.
