The co-chairman of „Democratic Bulgaria“ Hristo Ivanov announced the initiation of disciplinary proceedings for the removal of Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev. As Iskra.bg has already informed you, such a request has been submitted to the Supreme Judicial Council by the Union of Judges, and today it must make a decision on the issue. Ivanov called on the SJC to prove that there is someone in Bulgaria who is above the chief prosecutor. The appeal was made during the Justice for Everyone protest organized before the Judicial Chamber.
“GERB and MRF is the coalition of the chief prosecutor. The people who are in the SJC were elected together by them”, Ivanov said.
He stated that he was not optimistic about the development of today’s meeting:
„A disgraceful sweep will begin, props will be poured from the runway and from the singing propaganda – black will be called white, it will be lying to a shocking degree.“
Hristo Ivanov also said:
“This eraser smells, smells of fear. These people, who had to be chosen with high moral and professional qualities, smell of fear, because they are all chosen to be dependent, to be subject to fear. This is not the basis of independence and the rule of law, this is a cage for frightened carrier pigeons. Postal pigeons, which receive their instructions in the Saraya and only follow them here and formalize them.”
He listed the reasons for Geshev’s release, including the proposal to drop the third court, which he called “monstrous, unprecedented insolence”.
„This is a constitutional issue, it is not a matter for the prosecutor’s office to determine the structure of the Bulgarian judiciary. GERB in its so-called A new constitution provided for this legislative initiative, just as for years the Bulgarian criminal legislation has actually been written in the office of the Prosecutor General on Peevski’s orders. These people, if left like that, will eliminate the third instance court and will concentrate everything in their criminal court“, said Hristo Ivanov.
He also pointed out the refusal of the military prosecutor’s office to investigate the NSO guards who pushed the participants in the action in Rosenets and desecrated the Bulgarian flag.
Ivanov said:
“You know, in the Bulgarian republic, anyone can grab the flag and throw it on the ground. I do not want to live in such a republic. I want to live in a republic where we can be proud of our flag and our legitimacy. Because the flag is a symbol of this republic, and the meaning of this republic is justice, fairness and legality. And as long as there is no fear of the law and responsibility, as long as there is no justice guaranteed by real magistrates, we will not be able to be worthy citizens. And we are here for our dignity.”
