Political analyst and energy expert Iliyan Vasilev commented on Facebook the candidacy for prime minister of GERB-SDS Maria Gabriel /née Nedelcheva/. According to the expert, through her the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov gives a clear request that he will govern Bulgaria. If that happens, our country needs a strong and aggressive opposition. He is worried that „We continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria“ have put on their suits and forgotten the protests. According to him, if their voters and the pro-reformist circles decide to stay at home, they will consume the government of GERB, but if they go out into the street – Borisov is a passenger. Here’s what his entire post reads:
“Borisov told us through the words of Maria Nedelcheva that:
He will rule Bulgaria, his request is clear, and this dooms everything. Timid hopes that he could delegate rights to negotiation teams – to Donchev, Atanasova and Rosen Zhelyazkov, who would undertake commitments on behalf of GERB, were blown up by the games surrounding the chairman of the legal commission. Forget about changing the speaker of the National Assembly in three months. For Borisov, there are no rules, no commitments.
The Geshev have traded it, but the Geshevism/Tzazaratura remains. Sarafov will replace him or someone similar. Changing the judicial system as a replacement. Hence the whole sham with the „assassination“ – obviously Borisov is in the know, there are no improvisations.
In fact, what GERB will do is a copy of what was done years ago, when Hristo Ivanov left – they take all, or more, key theses for reform, what they will present as a common program with Continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria, then empty it of content and they replace it with theirs. For example – they replace the Commission for Countering Corruption and for Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property, divide it, just as Continuing the Change-Democratic Bulgaria wants, but they appoint their own staff. They do the same in the regulators. Formal reforms – but in reality it remains the same with new faces that Borisov holds.
This cannot happen with Schengen while Borisov is in charge.
The office of „Doctor“ Nedelcheva – that says everything about this candidacy. Fake. An ambitious Komsomol woman who does not know anything in depth and has no spine and will to realize anything – Borisov’s remote.
It is clear that We Continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria has no way of supporting it, especially after the latest steps of GERB with non-fulfillment of „gentleman’s“ commitments and the formula that implies super powers of the prime minister and total control by GERB of all key ministries through deputies and an appointed administration from Boris’ time – neither energy, nor roads, nor finances.
For this – We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria has only one move – to promise that they will not support Gabriel’s government, but individual policies. For the health of the whole nation, if Borisov wants to rule, it is necessary to have a strong and aggressive opposition. And this worries me that We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria put on their suits and forgot about protests and the street. Obviously, the non-governmental sector will have to be activated again and take over the organization of the protests – I just don’t see how Borisov and the paper ones will be blocked with these attitudes of cabinet opposition.
What will happen is what the voters of We Continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria and pro-reformist circles decide – if they stay at home, they will consume the government of GERB, if they go out on the street – Borisov is a passenger.
Let them manage their GERD – but let there be a strong counterthesis. That is why it is important and meaningful that the meeting of „Dr. Nedelcheva“ with should be the last.”
