I will not resign.
This was announced by the Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev during the special operation he was observing in Shivachevo town. He pointed out that under his leadership, the Prosecutor’s Office had achieved many successes and described the protests demanding his resignation as conducted.
The Prosecutor General also said that only six months had passed since the beginning of his term and he was adamant that the actions of prosecutors to combat crime would continue, no matters of the social status of the perpetrators:
“Go back two years ago – would you think that people like Cherepa, Bobokovi, Tsvetan Vassilev, Arabadjievi, Banevi, Minyo Staykov, like Minister and Deputy Minister of Environment and Water, advisers to the President, the head of the State Agency for Bulgarians abroad, the head of the State Gambling Commission would be accused and defendants and most of them would be face the Bulgarian court. No one would have imagined it.”
Meanwhile, the dissatisfaction of the citizens continues today. People from all over the country will gather for the national protest in the capital. In recent days, they have not stopped demanding the resignation of the government and chanting:
Geshev is a shame!
Many of them say that they go to the event because their patience has reached its limits and they want to live with dignity in their homeland.
