„We Continue the Change“ and „Democratic Bulgaria“ /DB/ should choose the best option to achieve the strongest effect – first place in the elections in April, Hristo Ivanov announced to journalists in the National Assembly /NA/.
„The only thing I care about is the maximum effect for the country. The historical task before us requires Bulgaria to get out of this spiral of hopelessness and a lack of possible change,“, the chairman of the DB parliamentary group added.
Negotiations between the two formations should start at the earliest possible moment, and the talks will be held confidentially and at many levels. Despite the limited time, the dialogue will focus on the current programs of the two formations and the communication strategy in the course of the election campaign. He stressed that „We Continue the Change“ and „Democratic Bulgaria“ have clear identities and their voters have nothing to worry about.
„I don’t think we can divide the country into two Bulgarias – good and bad. Our country is one. The good ones are simply those who can draw up such an agenda and gather support for it so that Bulgaria can come out of the crisis and take advantage of the opportunities before it,“, he said, adding that he believes it is important to have leaders on the electoral lists who can mobilize the will of the people to vote.
Regarding the amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code, aimed at creating an effective mechanism for control of the Prosecutor General, Ivanov said that their adoption in the second reading depends on the majority of GERB and MRF. The two formations failed to reach a quorum in plenary last week, wasting valuable time for the outgoing 48th National Assembly. Ivanov stressed that the session failed because of GERB’s decision not to register, even though they were in Parliament.
„The current bill is the best we have at the legislative level. Its adoption in the second reading would be an extremely important sign – both domestically and towards our partners,“, the MP concluded.
