The caretaker Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov made accusations of increased prices for the repairs of dams in our country, carried out by the previous government. Over the weekend, he visited two more dams, or a total of three of the 10 completed so far. These are Pazar Dere, as well as Zlati Voyvoda 3 and 4.
At a briefing, Petkov revealed that these dams are empty. At the same time, they are reported as completed as of December 31, 2020. And by law they cannot be blocked. According to Petkov, the case concerns obvious mismanagement because the protocols have been handed over and completed.
The repair of the Pazar Dere dam cost BGN 2,350 million. And the other two have a total of BGN 1.913 million.
It is interesting that the transport costs were the same. At the same time, we are talking about different areas – Lovech and Sliven. BGN 1.16 per kilometer was paid for the transportation of a ton of land. According to the caretaker Minister of Economy, this is five times more expensive than the market price.
The Ministry of Economy is now asking the State Consolidation Company to give a clear explanation as to why the dams that have been ready for six months have not been put into operation, as well as why the prices have been such.
The minister categorically rejected allegations that the dams in question had been released a few days before he visited them. Petkov also announced that each contract will now go through a special commission for control in his ward, the Ministry of Economy.
