Leader of the political party „Vazrazhdane“, Kostadin Kostadinov, commented on Facebook on a Reuters news report stating that Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Rechan ordered preparations for the nationalization of the Moldovagaz gas company, which is 50% owned by Gazprom. He wrote:
„Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Rechan has ordered preparations for the nationalization of the Moldovagaz gas company, which is 50% owned by Gazprom,“, Reuters reported. The Russian gas giant warned that on January 1, 2025, it would halt gas supplies to Moldova due to financial claims.
„These assets were taken from us in the past, and we must return state ownership,“, Rechan said during a government meeting.
I really like this argument! I believe the exact same approach can be applied to the electricity distribution companies (EDCs) in Bulgaria. I am confident that our Euro-Atlantic partners will support this – just as they support the pro-American government of Moldova. As a first step, we will propose a legislative amendment that would allow the state to appoint a special manager to oversee private energy companies during a crisis situation when they fail to meet their obligations.
Side note: And just to finish – yesterday there was a protest against the inaction of the electricity distribution companies and the state. Residents of villages in the Lovech region, who were without power for almost a week, blocked the Varna-Sofia road. Do you know how many there were? No more than 150 people, 50 of whom were from Vazrazhdane, together with MP Ivelin Parvanov. The ones suffering were tens of thousands, but only 150 protested, one-third of whom were from „Vazrazhdane“. Not a single Lovech MP showed up, except for Ivelin Parvanov. No political party supported the people, except for „Vazrazhdane“. I leave the conclusions to you.“
The government proposes to Parliament an act on the state’s revenues and expenditures!
