The Main Directorate “Fighting Organized Crime” conducted a specialized police organization to neutralize a criminal organization dealing with the distribution of narcotic substances in the territory of the cities of Sofia, Stara Zagora, Varna and Burgas.
This became clear during a briefing attended by District Prosecutor Georgi Chinev, Senior Commissioner Boyan Raev – Deputy Director of the Main Directorate „Fighting Organized Crime“ and Commissioner Radi Penev – Head of Department of the Main Directorate „Fighting Organized Crime“ – Burgas.
During the action, narcotic substances worth about BGN 400,000 were seized, but it was specified that it is certainly much higher on the free market. It is about 2.3 kg. methamphetamine, 12 kg of cannabis and about 30 grams of cocaine.
Boyan Raev from the Main Directorate „Combating Organized Crime“ specified that the operation was very complicated, as the action of the services in several cities had to be coordinated at the same time. Thus, at the same time, about 2 kg of amphetamine were purchased in Stara Zagora, and during the same time, a transaction for about 10 kg cannabis was made in Varna.
Radi Penev explained that the communication between the members of the group took place through mobile applications. The meetings that were held in different cities were with a frequent change of locations.
A total of five people were detained. One of the detainees is a 35-year-old man from Burgas, who was traveling with his wife and small child between Varna and Stara Zagora. They were even present nearby in the area of drug deals, thus serving as a front for criminal activity.
In Burgas, two caches were discovered in which narcotic substances were found. One was in a small dug hole, near the home of the detained burgher. The second was in an old abandoned car parked in a public place, to which he had a key.
