The leader of the Civic Platform „Stand Up.BG“ Maya Manolova warned that Boyko Borissov is preparing „under the table“ to extend the mandates of the general directors of „BNT“ and „BNR“. This will be done with legislative changes in the Law on Radio and Television.
„To withdraw the bill with changes in the Law on Radio and Television! According to the texts submitted by the Council of Ministers, the mandates will automatically be extended from three to five years“, Manolova announced in her position to the media.
The bill was introduced by the government yesterday. Manolova added:
„Apart from the automatic extension of the mandate, the changes also allow for two consecutive terms of five years for the general directors and the management boards.“
The protests demanded the resignation of the director of BNT, not an extension of his term. And this extension on the eve of the elections aims to provide Borissov and GERB with a faithful service of the public media management to the ruling party during the campaign, she added.
The changes are made in paragraphs 12 and 15 in connection with Art. 60 and Art. 66 of the law, Manolova points out.
She called on Borissov not to turn his GERB deputies into a commission for the employment of party cadres and pressure on institutions to serve GERB in the elections in the remaining seven days of this parliament’s work.
„The audit will start in 40 days“, Manolova added.
We remind you that at the end of last month Manolova called on the GERB group in the parliament to vote against extending the mandate of the CPC from five to seven years, although the CPC chairman is the mother of a GERB MP, said „Stand Up.BG“.
