The former deputy chairwoman of the Financial Supervision Commission Maria Filipova made scandalous revelations about Vasil Bozhkov during her questioning in court today. She announced that the businessman offered her 10 000 leva per day to do whatever he wanted in the gambling industry.
The purpose of all this was to grant and revoke licenses. Filipova testified in the case against Vasil Bozhkov, which is about an organized criminal group for extortion, as well as corruption.
Maria Filipova’s first meeting with the businessman was in her office. He went there directly. Filipova claims that she refused Bozhkov to take the money because she explained to him that she was working according to the letter of the law. But at first she felt frightened by what was happening.
At the same time, the Sofia City Court did not allow Bozhkov to leave the country to treat his eyesight abroad. The request was for him to travel to France on December 20 and be there until January 20 because there was a risk of losing the sight in one of his eyes.
According to medical documents submitted, the businessman had already been treated and even operated on in Bulgaria. The medical report even shows that he was discharged in good condition. The prosecution asked for a new examination of Bozhkov, but the court refused.
