„Yesterday I received a threatening warning to stop talking about gas scams carried out through middlemen. The message conveyed to me through acquaintances was to stop making revelations on the subject. I say to all those who are tempted to shut us up that this cannot be done. Unlike the former Deputy Minister of Agriculture of „We continue the change“ Ivan Hristanov, we will not ask for security and we will not roar. They have scared us even more. We will continue to tell the truth and expose the gas scams that harm citizens and businesses.“
This was announced to journalists by the leader of „Stand Up Bulgaria“ Maya Manolova duringa protest action of activists from the party in front of the Bulgargaz building in Sofia under the caption: „Stick an invoice for expensive gas in front of Bulgargaz“. On it, they pasted the invoices paid by the company to intermediaries for the supply of gas, which is 50-60 leva more expensive than what we would receive under the contract with Gazprom and the Balkan gas hub.
„By making a comparison from April 27 to August 4 of this year and we compare them with the prices on the gas exchange, the damage to Bulgarian citizens and businesses is between BGN 330 million and BGN 360 million,“ Maya Manolova revealed to journalists. She was categorical:
„I am attaching an invoice with Bulgargaz’s favorite intermediary in the name of the Med company.“ Let’s not forget that the head of „Bulgargaz“ previously worked for 7 years in the same company, and in our opinion, this is a conflict of interest. But the other intermediaries also offered significantly more expensive gas than that of the gas exchange. We stick the invoices on the wall of shame, because the company reached deep into the pockets not only of 140,000 households that heat with gas, but of all Bulgarian citizens, as well as 30,000 companies that work with gas. Its high prices drag everyone down
energy carriers.”
She gave the example of wood, which is already over 200 BGN per cubic meter and yet is not available. The reflection, according to her, directly affects the prices of food, fertilizers, and from there on agricultural production.
„A cold and hungry winter awaits us. One of the reasons for the extremely high inflation in our country is the expensive gas. The management of Bulgargaz is not worried about these contracts and continues to conclude them. Instead of getting the whole truth out about the cost of supplies, the caretaker government poured in another 800
million BGN in the company. Probably, with them, the traces of gas scams will be swept away“, argued Maya Manolova.
Activists of „Stand Up Bulgaria“ also pasted a photo of Asen Vassilev and Kiril Petkov from „We continue the change“, because, according to them, they bear direct responsibility, both for the appointment of the management of „Bulgargaz„, but also because they did not carry out the planning of deliveries of blue fuel.
„They terminated our relationship with Gazprom before they secured sufficient, rhythmic and decently priced alternative gas supplies. We paste their photos here because they don’t have a publicly announced office where we can do it”,explained Maya Manolova.
She recalled that the ex-head of the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation, removed by the Constitutional Court, turned the Commission into a rubber stamp with which she only approved requests to increase the price of blue fuel.
