“I will continue to convince teachers and parents of the need for additional school weeks. They need both more exercise and vacations so that students and teachers can rest periodically.”
This was said by the Minister of Education, Academician Nikolay Denkov. He assured that teachers will receive more funding for extra classes, as well as the opportunity to qualify according to their individual needs, because “there is a huge difference between schools and each teacher faces specific problems”.
According to the Minister, a change is needed in the training of teachers at the university.
“We need to focus on more practical training in student education. Now they prepare more theoretically and when they enter a class, they are surprised by what they see”, he explained.
Earlier today, Minister Denkov also revealed that the review of curricula is coming to an end.
“We will use the summer to change them. At the same time, we are developing the means for teaching the material so that it goes along with the content”, he also told.
“The programs will be updated for the start of the new school year this fall. The new textbooks will take more time, said Acad. Denkov. According to him, in many cases both teachers and students say that the content is not clearly presented, it is presented too academically, in the transition from integral to more specific subjects suddenly loses the sense of connection between them. That is why teachers are now leading in the review of curricula”, added Acad. Denkov.
