„After more than two years of serious delays, the new management of „Bulgargaz“ EAD has decided to claim damages in the amount of EUR 400 million from „Gazprom Export“ LLC.“
This was announced at a briefing by Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov, recalling that supplies from the Russian side to „Bulgargaz“ were terminated in April 2022.
„In case the claim is not voluntarily satisfied within a short period of time, the company will file an arbitration case before the International Court of Arbitration in Paris,“, he added.
Minister Malinov also commented on the concluded tender for LNG terminals in Turkey for the month of June.
13 companies participated in the procedure, and 10 of them submitted binding offers. After ranking according to previously announced criteria by „Bulgargaz“, the company „Botash“ was ranked first.
„In addition for the reserved capacity under the agreement signed between the companies at the end of 2022, „Botash“ will make a discount, which will result in a saving of about BGN 11.5 million of „Bulgargaz“ costs for the month of June,“, Malinov added.
„Today, „Bulgargaz“ will also announce two tender procedures – one for using the free capacity under the agreement with „Botash“ under equal conditions for all commercial participants. The second tender procedure is for the provision of a service by „Bulgargaz“ for companies that would like to supply gas to the entire region,“, the Energy Minister also said.
„After a meeting held yesterday, the management of „Kozloduy“ NPP will submit next week a new application to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission for the next regulatory period,“, Malinov further announced.
He added that the government continues to work on mechanisms to compensate for the deficit accumulated for the previous period in the Electricity System Security Fund.
