The Council of Ministers adopted the strategy „Municipalities without corruption“, announced the Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov during an extraordinary briefing. According to him, a very serious measure against corruption has been adopted and this is a process in which our country must remain without corruption. He believes that we are working very seriously with the business to be supported.
“The good news is that this decision was made today at the Council of Ministers, and yesterday 4 municipalities wanted to be the first without corruption. We hope that many more municipalities will be certified and be a place where investors can rest assured.”
Asked about the conflicts in the parliament over the budget update, the minister answered that if there are changes in the ways of measures, such as 60/40 measure, it means that there may be a delay in the money for business. According to him, the measures are set correctly and should not be changed. He called on the National Assembly to take his words into account.
Petkov himself still did not want to discuss his future in politics:
“As long as I am a caretaker minister, I will not answer political topics.”
On a question if he would participate in the next cabinet, he replied that he has not been invited to talks about something like this so far, and secondly, if he receives an invitation, he will discuss it with the head of state.
Minister Petkov also commented on the castlings in the State Consolidation Company (SCC):
“I have the right to release people who have committed violations in the SCC. The people who committed these violations cannot stay in their positions.”
Tomorrow the line minister and representatives of the Regional Ministry are expected to make more revelations about violations in the Company.
The Minister of Tourism Stela Baltova was also present during the briefing, Dnes.bg reports. According to her, the official cabinet stands firmly behind the support for the tourism industry. She specified:
“We provided an environment that managed to restore the viability of the tourism sector so that companies could manage the risk they had to take well.”
There are 17 support programs and schemes in support of the sector, and so far the aid amounts to more than 685 million, she said. According to her, with the new measures there are some problems with event tourism, but she assured that there will be assistance from the budget. Nightclubs are most affected by current restrictions, she added.
