The school year will start in person, and the permission for education outside the classroom of certain children will take place after the presentation of medical documents. This was clarified by the Minister of Education Krasimir Valchev.
According to him, during distance learning students will participate more passively, when it is not for the whole class.
There will be no obligatory thermal screening at the entrance of the schools, Minister Valchev pointed out and pointed out as a reason that the children in a large school will not be able to enter for hours. According to him, there will be a „medical filter“ and an overview of the symptoms, which can be either at the entrance or during the first class, and the teacher asked the children if they were feeling well. If there is a corresponding reaction and the presence of symptoms – the child will be separated, the parents notified and possibly the Health Inspectorate.
Among the biggest challenges is the lack of enough reserve teachers, the education minister said. He clarified that they have a list and have asked the higher education institutions where pedagogical education is carried out to fill in this list.
„We currently have a large list of substitute teachers. It happens to every teacher to be absent, to get sick. This year even more. This list we have from previous years will probably not be enough. We need to supplement it. It’s best if they are qualified teachers, but we will also include students.“
Masks in classrooms and gyms will be optional, but will be mandatory in all other indoor spaces. Helmets will be provided for some of the teachers, added Minister Valchev.
