„Ms. Sacheva, you may be right that I am a more emotional finance minister, but when it comes to Bulgarian citizens and the most vulnerable groups, I cannot help but be emotional. I apologized for my rude remarks last time, but I urge you to apologize for the rude policies you have pursued for 12 years.“
With these words, the Minister of Finance Asen Vassilev addressed the GERB MP Denitsa Sacheva from the parliamentary rostrum after her speech. His words were twice greeted with applause and shouts of „well done“.
“In 2009, GERB came to power and the minimum pension is 136 leva. On March 31, 2021, GERB leaves power, and the minimum pension is BGN 300. For 12 years the increase is 164 leva. From March 31, 2021 until now, the minimum pension with the proposed update rises to BGN 467 and an increase of BGN 167 for 12 months”, said the Minister of Finance and his words were met with applause. He continued:
“In 12 years, you have failed to do what our incompetent governments have done in 12 months.”
Because of the wrong philosophy of Mr. Kiril Ananiev. Minister Vassilev explained how they will finance this:
“The share of pensions in the Gross Domestic Product with the planned increases, which we set in the update, is 10.4%. The average share of pensions in the European Union is 12.7%, that is, despite the increases, we cannot achieve the average European share and give pensioners what they have made and what they deserve. Do you know the reason for this? That there is no way to make up for 12 lost years in one year. This is the reason. Neither the state will go bankrupt, nor will we have problems. We listened to all these stories last year during the update. Not only has the budget taken over the new pension payments, but there is an opportunity to increase pensions again, but as you have seen, this is because 3.9 billion do not go to bars, piggy banks and all sorts of other things, but go to retirees. And if I have to choose as finance minister between the bars and the bundles or between the fetish of 0 budget deficit and the retirees to live relatively peacefully, I will always choose the retirees to live relatively peacefully!
