BGN 60 million out of a total of BGN 84 million for Lot 5 of „Hemus“ Motorway were exported in cash in bags and sacks. The findings were announced by Atanas Ilkov from the General Directorate of the National Police at a briefing for journalists earlier today.
The sums that were transferred in advance for the construction of the highway moved between different companies.
So far, about 200 people have been questioned in the course of the investigation, checked by a serious team of 60 people, Ilkov specified.
„It has been established that on sections 4 and 5 of the „Hemus“ Motorway many installation works have been carried out, without the presence of a valid construction permit. For these activities the companies have received an advance payment from Avtomagistrali EAD.“, added Director of the General Directorate of the National Police Stanislav Stanev.
Kalin Stoyanov, Director of the CDCOC, claimed the following:
„In the summer of 2021, the CDCOC received several signals in connection with the construction of „Hemus“ Motorway. We started an inspection regarding Lot 5. On it we traced the path of the advance granted by Avtomagistrali EAD for materials and mechanization. The company has won with an inhouse procedure. We managed to collect enough data on committed crimes of several criminal crimes Code. Following the actions of our colleagues last week, we received signals that those involved in the crimes were trying to destroy production materials. We carried out an operation in which we detained 14 people.“
