42.2% of the establishments have fully vaccinated or close to 100% immunized staff. This shows a national survey conducted by the Bulgarian Association of Restaurants /BAZ/ and the Association of Restaurants in Bulgaria.
Employees of 13.8% are vaccinated at 80%, at 13.5 – at 50%, and at 30.5% of the establishments the staff is vaccinated below 30%.
To the question „How did the Green Certificate affect the turnover of the establishment / establishments you manage?“ 33.9% of the respondents stated that they could not last more than a month under the current working conditions, the imposed restrictions and the reduced turnover. 24.5% can survive for 2 months, 22.7% say they will close in 2 weeks, and 12.6% have already closed their business, and some of them have done so forever.
„How much longer can you last if working conditions do not change,“ is the next question in the survey. And the answers are shocking: 43.8% of owners say they have registered a decline of more than 80% of their turnover, 33% say a decrease in revenue between 50 and 80%, and 19.5% – a decline to 50%.
On the open question of what should be done in the current situation, the opinions about protests, free tests, „Green Certificate“ for the state administration, lockdown for all with compensations, etc. prevail.
Guided by the above data, the Bulgarian Association of Restaurants and the Association of Restaurants in Bulgaria urge the caretaker government to stop the genocide of the sector, to take adequate measures to combat COVID-19 and to provide support for the businesses most affected by its actions.
