There are currently 284 962 236 registered COVID cases worldwide. There are 5,439,612 deaths and 252,687,129 people who have recovered from the disease, according to official data from Worldometers.info.. This is according to official data from Worldometers. info.

One of the countries cited as an example for dealing with the COVID crisis is Israel. The country was also one of the first to vaccinate against the virus, with 64. 1% of the population fully immunized. A few days ago, an Israeli government expert panel recommended that authorities begin administering a fourth dose of the vaccine to certain segments of the population to protect them from the rapidly spreading Omicron variant. As a result, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett welcomed the decision and said he had already instructed the health authorities in this direction.

Despite the strict measures introduced in the country and the high vaccination coverage, Omicron did not spare the Asian country and over the past 2 weeks there has been a serious increase in new cases – from 878 cases on December 18 to 2995 cases on December 28.

At the same time, 1.91 million people in Bulgaria are fully vaccinated, which is equal to 27.6%. On December 18, the number of patients in our country was 904, and on December 281222 – significantly fewer than the leader Israel.

The data also show that as of December 28, there are 147,009 infected people in Israel per million, while in Bulgaria107,306. That is to say, the country pointed to as a COVID ghetto and where the Prime Minister gives BGN 75 to pensioners to get vaccinated has fewer infected compared to the one pointed globally as one of the best performing.

At the same time, the companies that created the COVID vaccines, seen by some as a panacea, have seen their profits rise sharply. In November, U. S. pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc. revealed that its revenue jumped 134% year-over-year to $24. 1 billion in the third quarter of fiscal 2021. The company’s vaccine revenue totaled $14. 6 billion in the third quarter, rising as much as 749% compared with the same period a year earlier, but when the COVID-19 vaccine, co-developed with Germany’s BioNTech, was not yet available. Pfizer’s earnings per share came in at $1. 42, up 446% from the third quarter in 2020, while the company’s net profit rose 455% year-over-year to reach $8. 1 billion.

Pfizer’s earnings per share were $ 1.42, up 446 percent from the third quarter of 2020, while the company’s net income rose 455 percent year-over-year to $ 8.1 billion. The Pfizer vaccine is reported to have quickly become one of the best-selling products in the company’s approximately 172-year history.

Moderna, for its part, reported total revenue of $ 5 billion in the third quarter of fiscal 2021, up $ 157 million from the previous quarter. The corporation’s annual sales so far for 2021 amount to 11.3 billion dollars, and for the whole year are expected to reach 18 billion dollars from the mRNA vaccine COVID-19.

Johnson and Johnson also reported second-quarter earnings, saying COVID-19 vaccine sales could reach a total of $ 2.5 billion by the end of the year.

However, none of the manufacturers of COVID vaccines guarantees that after completing a full course, a patient will not be infected with the virus. On the contrary – it is claimed that it does not protect against the disease, but from its possibly more severe course. In a large percentage of cases, side effects have been found and even deaths have been reported after dosing. This led to the brief banning of the AstraZeneka needle. Moderna’s is not recommended for people under 30.

Against this background, vaccination for the youngest children has been introduced in a number of countries, and recently in Bulgaria as well. The acceptance of the requirement of the „Green Certificate“ and the testing of students in order to be able to study in school, led to protests in a number of cities in our country.

Demonstrations against the introduction of the Green Passport took place in Greece, Italy, Germany, Austria and many other countries. This divided the population – „for“ and „against“ – testing, vaccines, „Green Certificates“, measures, lockdowns. Governments need to think about whether these are the best measures they can take, because so far the facts are millions of deaths, tensions in a number of countries, collapsed economies amid pharmaceutical companies and certain people who have gained billions and gained more great power at the expense of societies.
