One-off financial aid will be granted to parents who are currently on involuntary unpaid leave. This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Denitsa Sacheva during a briefing at the Council of Ministers, where Prime Minister Boyko Borisov also took part.

„The last measure we have developed is to provide one-off  financial aid for parents who receive unpaid leave allowance of BGN 375, and the assistance will be granted as parents or a single parent who use unpaid leave of at least 20 working days due to the inability to work remotely. Parents who do not receive other social benefits or parents who have already used their annual paid leave will be also eligible for this financial assistance. „

The financial aid will be available by next week, and on Tuesday at the latest, anyone who falls into this category can apply to receive it, said Minister Sacheva. According to her, about BGN 20 million has been set aside for this. She added that according to the income criterion, the monthly income of a family member should be up to BGN 610, which is the minimum wage.

„If we’re talking about a single parent, they must have a maximum income of up to BGN 1,220.“

The Minister of Labor and Social Policy explained that the measure supports working parents and those who have no other option to get money because they have to look after their children.
