A special temporary commission in the National Assembly will consider GERB’s draft of a new Constitution. This was decided by the MPs from the ruling majority. The BSP and the MRF boycotted the vote. They did not nominate their candidates for members of the commission, “24 Chasa” reported.

The original idea was for 18 people to join – three from each parliamentary group and three from the independent MPs. However, this will not happen.

The proposal to set up the commission was approved by 109 votes in favor.

The chairman of the body will be Desislava Atanasova from GERB. Toma Bikov and Krassimir Tsipov are also members of the parliamentary group.

Boris Yachev, Iskren Veselinov and Hristian Mitev from “United Patriots” will take part in the commission.

„Volya“ will also discuss the changes in the Constitution in the body, as the parliamentary group nominated Simeon Naydenov, Plamen Hristov and Elena Pesheva as their representatives.

Only one of the independent MPs will join the discussions and that is Spas Panchev, who was proposed by GERB.

The purpose of the commission is to consider the draft for a new Constitution, which is already submitted, and, if necessary, to make changes in it.

I call on all lawyers, constitutionalists, civil society organizations and parties, experts and public figures not to accept the invitation and not to participate in the work of the parliamentary commission for change in the Constitution voted today, headed by Desislava Atanasova. GERB’s draft and the members of the commission are a mockery of the law and a blow to the state. The discussions in this commission will legitimize the encroachment on the rule of law, social and democratic state.„, BSP leader Korneliya Ninova wrote on the social network Facebook.
