MPs commented to journalists on the sidelines of the National Assembly /NA/ the absence of representatives of some parliamentary groups from the plenary hall. Earlier today, the Parliament could not start its session due to lack of quorum. 89 people registered in the plenary hall, with MPs from the parliamentary groups of GERB-UDF, „We Continue the Change“ and „Democratic Bulgaria“ /DB/ mainly absent.
Chairman of the DB parliamentary group Hristo Ivanov described as correct the approach not to enter the plenary hall because of the adoption of amendments to the Electoral Code by the majority.
Iskren Mitev from „We Continue the Change“ defined the decision not to enter the hall as correct:
„This is a political move. There is some motive that is not presented. We refuse to participate in debates until it becomes clear what the reason is for the paper ballot to be the most important thing in the National Assembly.„
„I think there is a dialogue after all. Obviously, there are positions that the parties have chosen to be first on the agenda. Let’s assess and give them some time and see whether the dialogue continues or not. But let us wait anyway, any topic could prove to be a stumbling block. At the same time, every topic can be overcome with dialogue,“, Stefan Yanev from „Bulgaria on the Rise“ said.
After the break, there was a re-registration, during which the National Assembly again failed to gather a quorum.
