Two of the caretaker ministers gave a briefing after the end of the first meeting of the caretaker government, where they talked about the measures in support of citizens and businesses that they want to continue. As Iskra.bg informed you, the problem is that some of them are in force until the end of May, and the rest – until June, and the cabinet of Boyko Borissov did not propose an update of the state budget to be extended. They were called for by the parties in the 45th Parliament, President Rumen Radev, business, unions and experts, but did not listen to their voices.
„We had an in-depth conversation with an analysis of the financial condition of the budget – what we find and what we have the opportunity as a state to provide to Bulgarian citizens and Bulgarian business. The financial situation is extremely difficult, but we agreed with Minister Vassilev that the funds of BGN 50 on the pensions of all Bulgarian pensioners will continue at least until the end of the term of the caretaker government.„, announced caretaker Minister of Labor and Social Policy Galab Donev.
He stressed that in just one day the team of the Ministry of Finance has done a lot to provide funds for these BGN 50 on pensions per month for all Bulgarian pensioners.
„The measure for Bulgarian pensioners is aimed at the people most affected by the crisis. As for the measures for business, we are working with the Minister of Economy, with the Minister of Tourism, to see how not only for the companies in the affected sectors, but in general for the whole Bulgarian business to be able to support the way out of the economic crisis. We will also see how self-employed people can be helped as much as possible. I will ask you to give us 7-10 days to play the scenarios so that we can provide you with additional information on how we will support the economy, because the truth is that if the business does not work, there will be no money for anything. If the business works, there will be money for everything.“, said caretaker Minister of Finance Asen Vassilev.
At the same time, at the beginning of the first official meeting of the government, Prime Minister Gen. Stefan Yanev announced that they are working at full speed and everything is under control. He asked for tolerance of a week in which his colleagues could get acquainted with the current picture, which will then be presented to the media and the public.
„Expect information – timely, honest and open, at any time, because we will work for the benefit of society quite openly.“, the caretaker Prime Minister promised.
The Prime Minister announced that they would address current issues concerning upcoming meetings in a European format and with the respective responsibilities of the ministries. According to him, they will discuss the prospects for social assistance and social measures imposed by the COVID pandemic, as well as an immunization plan.
During the meeting, Gen. Yanev also commented on the information about a caretaker minister with COVID-19 as follows: “We are responsible not only for our own health, but also for the health of others. The Minister, for whom there was a media report that he probably had a positive COVID test – this is not true. An error occurred. The person in question underwent 3 or 4 consecutive tests. There is an apology letter from the first lab.“
After the meeting, at least two ministers will give a briefing to journalists.
