“I am not leading a war! I build factories, new roads, and supercomputers,” said PM Boyko Borissov in response to President Rumen Radev’s critics towards the government during his
visit to the city of Pazardzhik.
The Prime Minister said that there is no room for corruption allegations against President Radev, talking about the recently published chat conversation between the President and the businessmen Plamen Bobokov. Borssiov said he has personally helped Bobokov in the past. Acting like a “virgin”, however, added Borissov, is what he finds “shameful”.
Borissov said that he has not been keeping an archive of his text messages because he is “no girl”.
“It seems that some people who believe are great men are far from it for keeping a record of their messages. I see no reason for such mass hysteria. If it was about me, however, I would have been the bad guy. When it is about President Radev it is a political attack”, said PM Borissov.
Borissov said that he was being accused of everything that’s wrong in the country, whereas he has never been hiding that he is deeply acquainted with the local business. He finds this not to be a problem, unlike the political accusations and attacks.
The Prime Minister said it is perfectly normal for Bobokov to be interested in the appointment of Bulgarian ambassador in Nigeria since he is running a business there. Borissov added that he personally has led diplomatic delegations with Bobokov abroad because he has always been in favor of the business.
The main issue is that President Radev personally said only a couple of weeks ago that unofficial communication between government officials and the business is unacceptable, said Borissov.
The “true” big news of today, he said, was the opening of a new factory worth 20 million leva in Pazardzhik that will provide 1,000 new jobs. This was the reason for his visit in the city.
Journalists insisted on hearing Borissov’s opinion on the leaked chat conversations between Bobokov and President Radev. In response, he said he took no part in the communication. He said the discussion between the two was about the coronavirus and saving human lives, as well as about the government’s 60-40 financial plan for protecting the Bulgarian jobs.
