Police officers are protesting on their professional holiday. As Iskra.bg mentioned earlier, it is held today in the capital in front of the „Sveti Sedmochislenitsi“ Church.

The uniformed men are demanding a 30% increase in salaries, as they are also at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19. We remind you that several meetings were held last week, after one of which it was decided that the salaries of employees in the system will be increased by 15 and not by the initial 10%. However, this does not suit the police.

The memory of the employees who died in the system of the Ministry of Interior was honored with a minute of silence today.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov greeted police officers on the occasion of their professional holiday with the words:

„On the professional holiday of the police, I want to thank them that in these difficult months, together with the doctors, they are our strongest support. They experienced and endured a lot. They have always been at the forefront against the virus, where the risk is greatest. Away from home and family. But they did not back down even for a moment. Even when they were attacked by provocateurs. I wish them health and strength so that we can continue to fight crime and smuggling together. The police have my great respect and commitment to continuously improve their working conditions.“

The police officers at the protest today were joined by dozens of citizens, as well as representatives of the „System Kills Us“ organization, who considered their demands fair.
