Today is the deadline for registration of parties and coalitions to participate in the upcoming early parliamentary elections on October 2. Most of the political forces submitted their documents on the penultimate day.
According to political scientist Prof. Tatyana Burudzhieva, the main request is that these formations will participate in the vote, because there were also those who announced that they would not do so. The second request was what exactly they think the election campaign will be, because we have already seen that the opposition is very big. At the same time, the elections are currently very short and citizens expect their problems to be the main ones for the parties, not the emotions of the political forces themselves.
The political scientist Slavi Vassilev, for his part, commented that the leading topic at the moment is the fall of the government of former Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, and after such a development it is usual to enter a stage in which a lot is promised. „We continue the change“ itself submitted a request that it will be the first political force and will even have a majority in the next parliament of 121 people’s representatives.
Burudzhieva stressed that we should look at what happened at the previous vote, when the interest in „We continue the change“ was very high. Then they failed to achieve this majority and have 121 MPs. Now, the party is after seven months of governing the state, and according to the analyst, there are tendencies to withdraw trust from them. Therefore, it would be a very big surprise if any political force managed to win the election and muster enough of a majority to govern on its own.
Burudzhieva also pointed out that if a post-election coalition were to be created, the only option would be for the party leaders to withdraw. At the same time, Vassilev’s opinion is that a political force without a leader is nonsense, because politics was precisely a leadership battle.
He also commented on the appointment of Denitsa Zlateva as director of Bulgargaz, as according to him, this was a request from the cabinet to deal with the energy crisis.
