The Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov announced that in case of diffuse spread of the coronavirus, as is currently observed, a full lockdown will have no effect. On the contrary. According to him, he will take people out on the streets and the exact opposite will be achieved.
The Minister also said that by the end of this week a large number of rapid antigen tests will enter the health system through the Regional Health Inspectorates. However, the decision is still pending on whether they will be equivalent to the PCR tests, because one will be taken by November 18 at European level and Bulgaria will comply with it.
Regarding the restaurants, which continue to work until 23:30, Prof. Angelov said that it is important for the mental health of people to have social contacts. Therefore, according to him, in compliance with the measures, these establishments can function. He stressed the importance of distance, the number of people who can be at one table, and the staff wearing masks and gloves. Then, according to him, the probability of infection is very small.
However, this is not the case with nightclubs. There was no distance there, so they would remain closed.
Despite all the criticism and examples that there are currently serious problems in the health system, the minister announced that the summer was not overslept. During these months, intensive preparations were made for the current serious pressure that is being observed.
In terms of mortality, he said, we are not at the forefront of Europe, which means that the capacity of the health system is still good.
According to Prof. Angelov, at the moment people are losing their mental resilience and everyone wants to be hospitalized, which is practically impossible and not necessary. The minister said that for the 20 percent with a clear picture, there are places, but not for all those infected with coronavirus.
He also said that measures would be taken to stop the stockpiling of drugs. This would happen in the coming days.
