The Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov announced the return of one of the anti-epidemic measures, namely – the mandatory wearing of masks and outdoors. According to him, this is the easiest possible measure to limit the spread of the coronavirus, which in recent weeks has occurred at a serious pace in our country. The idea was also approved by the expert councils on epidemiology and infectious diseases and was discussed at their meeting.
Prof. Angelov announced that during meetings in the country all structures expressed concerns about the increase in the number of infected people in the country. Today they crossed the psychological limit of 1000 days. The ratio between the number of PCR tests performed and the positive samples is also increasing.
During these meetings, everyone insisted that wearing masks outdoors became mandatory again.
The Minister of Health also announced that in a report of the Chief State Health Inspector Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev a proposal was also made for the introduction of masks or other covering means.
According to Prof. Angelov, this is the easiest possible measure and he is of the opinion that it should be introduced. According to him, it will not limit the citizens in any way, and it is expected to reduce the number of cases by up to 30%. According to the minister, this will be done. However, it was not clear when the government would take the step.
During the meeting, the request of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov to reduce the quarantine from 14 to 10 days was also discussed. This idea has received approval when it comes to contact persons who are asymptomatic. It will not apply to others.
