“Two eyewitnesses on Monday under questioning said that Ivayla Bakalova herself sought Martin Bojanov – the Notary – to ask for help. The call was made through someone else’s phone. The contact was made through Emil Piskov, who was doing legal services for them. He did not want to do this and deliberately said a high fee.”
This was stated by Sofia City Prosecutor Iliana Kirilova before the Notary Committee meeting.
“The Commission for Martin Bojanov – the Notary was formed after the broadcast of the Anti-Corruption Fund about a tragedy and pressure that was exerted against Ivayla Bakalova, with a view to the detention of her husband”, the prosecutor said. And announced that “Miss Bulgaria 2001” will be summoned again for questioning.
We would like to remind that Iliana Kirilova was invited to a hearing for the second time before the deputies. The previous time she refused to appear on the grounds that the cases were an investigative secret. Sofia’s appellate prosecutor is also expected to speak before the MPs.
Shortly after the session began, a row broke out in the committee. A second quorum check was made at the request of DPS MP Hamid Hamid. It was found that eight MPs were present. According to committee chairman Nikola Minchev, there was no obstacle to holding a discussion but not a vote.
“We have done enough election campaigning on We Continue Change-Democratic Bulgaria. Check the quorum, there are rules, there are rules of procedure. You have been removed as Speaker of the National Assembly, but apparently you should be removed from the interim committee so that you can learn to follow the rules”, Hamid Hamid quipped. However, Nikola Minchev checked the quorum and pointed out that eight MPs were present in the Chamber. Minchev explained:
“There is no quorum, but we continue with hearings and debates. There is no logic that a temporary committee cannot open a sitting due to lack of quorum and inability to adopt an agenda.”
“Atanas Atanasov cried a lot today, he suffered a lot of humiliation, so he deserves to be chairman of the temporary committee”, Hamid said. He then left the hall where the meeting was being held.
Subsequently, the GERB-MDF deputy Manoil Manev entered the hall where the temporary committee was being held. According to him, a sign in front of the hall should have said that this was the election headquarters of We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria.
“Dissolve this circus, dissolve the election campaign and when it starts, let’s do it properly”, he urged. According to Manoil Manev, people are being called to the committee not to be questioned and to come out with the truth about the Notary, “we are calling people, we are tricking them”.
Miroslav Ivanov from We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria said that elementary arguments are being sought to prevent the meeting from taking place.
In the sabotage of the meeting, which was also attended by the city prosecutor Iliana Kirilova, who refused to come last week, joined the BSP deputy Zafirov, for whom this is a waste of time and participates as a spectator in the “family feuds” of the assembly. The BSP demanded a change in the principle by which the committee was formed and that they should get two representatives. “There Is Such A People” also weighed in and said the committee meeting was pointless.
