“It concerns a Ukrainian woman with the status of a foreigner with temporary protection granted in June of this year. She was convicted of such a crime, for which she was charged by the District Prosecutor’s Office-Burgas. On August 24, 2022, the District Court-Trun found the accused guilty of having helped a group of foreign citizens without identity documents to cross the country in the territory of the city of Trun, in order to obtain property benefits for others. She was sentenced to 10 months of „imprisonment“, the execution of which was suspended for a period of 3 years. The crime for which RP-Burgas has brought charges was committed during the probationary period of conviction. This means that in the event that the District Court-Burgas finds the accused guilty of the charge thus brought and imposes “a prison”, she will have to serve both the sentence imposed by the previous sentence and the new one imposed.”
This was revealed by prosecutor Zornitsa Shtarbeva to journalists minutes before the court session began to review the remand order for 46-year-old Alla Garbar, who was caught transporting Syrian migrants to Burgas. The prosecutor also commented:
“At the moment, no evidence has been collected about the complicity of other persons in the commission of the crime for which she was charged by the RP-Burgas, but in the event that such evidence is collected, it will proceed to the raising of new charges.”
The migrants were taken from the territory of the Burgas Region and Alla was supposed to leave them in Sofia, from where another transport would pick them up, revealed the state prosecution. The final destination of the foreigners was Western Europe, and each of them had to pay 4,500 euros.
We remind you that around 16:00 on September 6, the Ukrainian woman, who has refugee status, was stopped for a check at the intersection between Sportna Street and Todor Aleksandrov Boulevard. In her Volkswagen Touran, nine refugees from Syria were found without identity documents. Some of them traveled in the trunk of the car.
Alla Garbar entered the courtroom escorted by two law enforcement officers. Before the court panel, the Ukrainian woman stated:
“The court excused me for my actions, but they blackmailed me and threatened me with money. I understand that I broke the law, but I want you to be more loyal to me. I didn’t know that migrants can’t be transported from one point to another in Bulgaria, because I’m one of them too.”
It is expected that at 15:00 it will become clear whether the court will leave her in custody permanently. Alla Garbar came to us on March 2, and currently lives in Sarafovo quarter. She was born in 1976 and is an accountant by profession. Her son is 20 years old and he is in Ukraine.
