Bulgaria’s president Rumen Radev announced that he is convinced that we have both the capacity and the strength to deal with the crisis by combining our joint efforts. He announced that measures and provisions have been put in place by the National Operational Headquarters. According to him, the big challenge is to apply them to the real life of people. Radev believes that the balance between maintaining the public health and the economy should be found, but without damaging.
He gave an example mentioning the municipality of Pleven, where all the medical personnel were mobilized.
„It is very important that we do not have any interruption in our productive activity.“, the head of state said firmly.
He announced that the measures to be taken were clear and politicians should not perform the role of doctors or vice versa.
Radev called on all citizens to be disciplined and to limit unnecessary going out in order to reduce the spread of Covid-19.
The prime minister Boyko Borisov, for his part, commented from Gabrovo that it is not an order of the politicians and this is precisely what doctors say in connection with the statement earlier to Radev. And he added:
„He was gone and he came from somewhere. The doctors only talk, we don’t talk at all.“
The prime minister again called for discipline to abstain from panicking. According to him, with all the power of the industry, we will be able to deal with the coronavirus. The Prime Minister stressed that children are not vulnerable and therefore people need to be calm.
He visited an enterprise in Gabrovo, which started production of protective clothing. 40,000 meters of the clothing was made in three days. At the moment 2000 clothes are being prepared. According to him, at least 15,000 overalls can be made at the company in question.
Borisov stressed that they pay 20 euros for protective clothing from abroad and it is better to keep this money in the Bulgarian economy. It became clear from his words that the clothes in question may not be laundered but disinfected dry.
