Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov has already met with Borislav Kolev, accused of laundering money from the construction of the „Hemus“ motorway. He announced this himself after the „Policeman of the Year“ ceremony, “DarikNews” reported. Thus, he answered a question regarding the fact that Kolev requested a meeting with him and with Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev.
The interior minister explained that he had responded to the wishes of the two brothers and that they had clarified the case. However, he did not want to reveal more details, saying that the Prosecutor’s Office and investigators, as well as the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (CDCOC) should not be overtaken. It was they who would have a lot to do this afternoon with the accused, who is currently under „custody“.
Kolev’s interrogation will be held at the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office, and Rashkov said he did not know why, probably due to the convenience of investigators. He himself was not surprised by what he heard from the accused, as there should have been a more expedited investigation of the case in order to find out the truth about him. All the facts and specific names would become public later.
The Minister also commented on the case with Vladislav Goranov, emphasizing that things are as simple as some are trying to present. It became clear from his words that the case is currently under investigation.
On the occasion of the „Policeman of the Year“ awards, Rashkov announced that there were many occasions to award law enforcement officers. There are people who, in his words, are on the „quiet front“ and tirelessly take care of ensuring security in Bulgaria. They are the ones who often criticize the system as a whole, but it continues to work successfully. Rashkov stressed that in the last year the activity of the Ministry of Interior has increased to a degree that already meets the expectations of the Bulgarian public.
