There will be changes in the senior management of the Interior Ministry, Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov said. The political cabinet needs to become more active and more energetic by drafting changes. in his words, there will be changes among the deputy ministers. He told:
„The Council of Ministers has given me the freedom to decide these issues. Nobody forces me. There must be a change and I will make such changes in the interest of work, not because I do not like one or the other, but because there must be more energy in the political cabinet, in the leadership of the ministry, because we have a lot of dynamic times.”
Rashkov is adamant that there are already results from the activities of the regional structures, an annual analysis of these results is forthcoming and based on this analysis an objective decision will be made for the heads of directorates in our country. According to him, some processes in the Security Agency will be accelerated, first of all the personnel decisions and added:
„For 6-7 months now, there have been people who are very close to those who were removed from the leadership of the National Security Agency who were on long-term leave until September. There remained persons closely associated with these people. Changes are being made, but the pace needs to increase for the whole country to pull ahead.“
Rashkov also commented on the inaction when he received very telling information that cash was being withdrawn from a bank in some very strange way and going in an unknown direction. According to him, the scheme is made in such a way that everyone knows a little bit. He explained:
„The scheme was made in a mafia image. We want to reveal the truth, the whole truth, and get to the top, to the appropriate level of power. The administrative capacity and the number available to the Ministry of the Interior need to be reviewed. The ministry has not undergone any changes for a long time and currently has a huge staff of nearly 50,000 people, less than half of whom are police officers. There are services in the structure of the Ministry of Interior that are not purely police – they could be separated from the ministry without disrupting the functional capabilities of this department.“
Rashkov is adamant that the fire safety service can be separated as an independent agency, which will also deal with rescue operations in emergencies – disasters, accidents and others. He pointed out that these changes do not require financial resources to hamper the budget. Rashkov said:
„About 350 people will be laid off in the department’s administration this year. So far there is no serious controversy with the unions.“
