Residents of the village of Chernichevo, Hisarya Municipality, are sounding the alarm about illegal leakage of fecal water into the Blue River flowing through the village, which threatens the environment and the health of the people. According to them, the problem is serious and needs immediate measures, but so far there has been no adequate response from the local authorities.
Local residents claim that the faecal water flowing into the river is causing significant environmental pollution. According to them, this problem is not recent but no action has been taken by the mayor or municipal authorities. They sent photos and videos. They express their outrage in the following way:
“This is an environmental disaster that the mayor is oblivious to, and the municipality probably doesn’t know or doesn’t want to know. The local authorities are covering up the mayor’s actions because they are working together. No measures are being taken to solve the problem.”
On the occasion of the signal about the leakage of fecal water in the village of Chernichevo, we sought the position of the Municipality of Hisarya. They commented to Iskra.bg:
“We don’t have exactly such a signal, but we will accept it as such and immediately make an inspection. We will also contact the mayor of Chernichevo to find out if he is also aware of the case and we will carry out a joint check. If a violation is found, a finding report will be drawn up on the spot and the first measure will be to issue an immediate injunction to stop the leak. A violation report will also be imposed because there is an ordinance that prohibits such actions. In these cases, a seepage pit must be built or the system must be connected to the sewer.”
The municipality has assured that necessary measures will be taken to address the issue if such a violation is found.Residents also said that this problem is not unique. They mention that before the elections they received promises to rebuild the bridge in the village, but after the elections these commitments remain unfulfilled:
“They were going to do the bridge before the election, but the election passed and the bridge is about to disappear. This is how it is in our municipality – many promises, but no real action.”
Residents of Chernichevo are demanding immediate measures to stop fecal water leaking into the river and ensure their safety.
