The deputies decided to increase the minimum retire pay for length of service and by age to BGN 467. The amount also includes BGN 60 COVID supplement. This happened after part of the texts from the update of the budget of the State Social Security / SSS / for this year were adopted at the second reading. This is an increase of 26.2%, according to the petitioners from the Council of Ministers.
All MPs, except MRF leader Mustafa Karadayi, voted in favor of raising the minimum pension. Proposals made by GERB-UDF in the part on expenditures and revenues related to retired pays were not accepted.

Vazrazhdane MP Georgi Georgiev explained that his parliamentary group has remarks, but will nevertheless support the updating of the Social Security budget. According to Dimitar Ganev of Democratic Bulgaria, it would be nice if pensions were calculated according to rules written in law.
The line minister Georgi Gokov noted that the proposal of the Council of Ministers to increase the pension ceiling is a motive and incentive for the insurers and the insured persons to take action.
