By the end of the coronavirus pandemic, the retirees will receive a BGN 50 supplement to their monthly payments. This was announced by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov to residents of the village of Lesidren, Ugarchin municipality.
From his words it became clear that as long as there is an emergency epidemic situation in our country, there will be no indexation of the retired payments.
As Iskra.bg informed you, such a possibility was being discussed. The indexations had to be done from the beginning of 2021.
There was even a serious discrepancy between the unions and the authorities on how to modernize the retired payments. The unions insisted that the insurer’s internship be taken as a basis.
In Ugarchin, Borissov explained that talks had been held with the unions and they had been told that as long as all pensioners were given BGN 50 more, there would be no indexations. Then they will be made. The Minister of Labor and Social Policy Denitsa Sacheva agreed with this situation.
Borissov also said that the supplements cost BGN 108 million a month to the state budget.
For now, it is certain that the retirees will receive additional money by the end of November, because last week the Council of Ministers decided to extend the emergency situation until then.
However the important question is how during the crisis caused by COVID-19, funds were found every month to give supplements of BGN 50 to all retirees, no matter how much they take, and before that only for Christmas and Easter, and it for those with the lowest pensions. It is interesting to see whether the supplements will not be given until the parliamentary elections in March next year.
